Upstate NY’s Magic Legacy

Eddie Fechter

Eddie Fechter

The Buffalo News posted an article last week about Eddie Fechter and the Forks Hotel last week, and I’d like to share the link with you. The article shares the story of an annual visit by Western NY magicians to Fechter’s grave on the anniversary of his death, March 31, 1979.

Eddie Fechter began the annual “Fechter’s Finger Flicking Frolic” in 1971 as an invitation-only magic convention for the best close-up magicians in the world. Commonly referred to as the “4F” convention by magicians, this convention continues to honor Fechter’s legacy to this day. The 41st Annual Convention starts later this week in Batavia, and will be attended by some of the best close-up magicians on earth. No kidding!

Following the closed FFFF Convention, the Magician’s Alliance of Western NY (MAWNY) holds its open convention Sunday, May 1st, at the Clarion Hotel in Batavia, NY. All magicians and aspiring magicians are welcome!

Stuff We’ve Read But Never Had The Guts to Try

On Saturday, April 30th I will be doing a show at Camden Middle School at 7 pm. I would like to invite you all to come and check out the show.

I’ve done several shows at Camden Middle School, and when they asked me to do another one, I really had to clean out the notebooks and figure out what I haven’t done there already. What “new” material could I do? I decided to put the cliché to the test; to find something new, I went to the old books. What I’ve decided to do are those tricks we have all read about, but really have never tried. “The Victory Carton Illusion,” “The Mummy Illusion,” and a headline prediction are just some of the new material I’ve decided to add.

It has been an exciting process designing these illusions and writing modern presentations for the magical classics. I think the audience is really going to enjoy the show, and I think it will be an especially enjoyable show for magicians.

Hope to see you there.
